Tottenham’s Georges-Kevin NKoudou explains why he committed ultimate Spurs sin… wearing a CHELSEA shirt

As a Tottenham player, there are certain things you don’t do.

You don’t ever say a bad word about Harry Kane. You don’t ever utter the words ‘Sol Campbell’. But above all, you don’t ever, ever, ever allow yourself to be pictured wearing a Chelsea shirt.

For those of you new to English football, Tottenham fans despise Chelsea. As much as Arsenal are their fiercest and most historic rivals, there is something about the team from Stamford Bridge which really rubs Spurs supporters up the wrong way. Chelsea supporters singing “WE HATE TOTTENHAM” at every match doesn’t exactly help relations.

Bear all that in mind when you see this image of Georges-Kevin NKoudou – Tottenham’s young French midfielder – posing for a picture with a fan.… while wearing a Chelsea shirt.

NKoudou hasn’t exactly been a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side. In fact, the former Marseille star is yet to start a Premier League game for Tottenham.

Nonetheless, the sight of one of their players wearing a Chelsea training top didn’t go down too well with the Spurs faithful.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou of Tottenham… and Chelsea (sort of)

Once the shock had subsided, some Tottenham fans were even calling for Nkoudou to get the boot:

Others just wanted an explanation:

To Nkoudou’s great credit, it didn’t take him long to reveal exactly why he had been caught wearing a garment most Tottenham fans would refuse to have in their house, let alone on their body.

Replying to a tweet, the 22 year-old explained he had been given the top by his friend Michy Batshuayi, the Chelsea striker, and simply didn’t realise the significance of it:

Still, something tells us Nkoudou won’t be making that mistake again.

Isn’t that right, Mauricio?
