Stoke misfit Giannelli Imbula on verge of return to France as Potters cut their losses on record signing

Stoke are on the verge of offloading Giannelli Imbula to Nice.

The French side are in pole position to sign Imbula – ahead of Galatasary, Roma and Marseilles – with Stoke ready to cut their losses on their record signing.

Imbula failed to live up to his £18.3m price tag since his move last year but remains highly thought of in France, where he played previously for Guingamp and Marseille.

Nice, who finished third last season to qualify for the Champions League qualifiers, are ready to offer Imbula an escape route from Stoke.

The two clubs are in talks over a deal with Nice eyeing a loan deal while Stoke would prefer a permanent and have put a £15million price tag on Imbula.
