A shoplifter whose story was so moving that his arresting officer paid for the clothes he’d tried to steal has now got a job as a result.

The 18-year-old was caught trying to steal some clothes for a job interview – a smart shirt, a tie and some socks – from a branch of Walmart in Toronto, Canada.

But when Constable Niran Jeyanesan turned up to arrest him, he felt sorry for him and bought him the clothes instead.
