Sean Hannity is now teaming up with President Trump in his ongoing attacks against Joe Scarborough, which led to a war of words between the two pundits on Monday morning.
Scarborough kicked things off on ‘Morning Joe’ when he referred to Hannity’s Fox News program as ‘basically start-run TV,’ which prompted Hannity to unleash on Twitter.
Hannity went after Scarborough’s hair, his burgeoning music career and then said that he was a ‘sheep’ who left the Republican party to keep his MSNBC job.
He also suggested that Greta Van Susteren was fired by MSNBC when she refused to do the same.
Hannity then took a bit of a break before firing out one last tweet: ‘Fact; Liberal Joe BEGGED Ailes and Shine dozens of times for a job on Fox while working at NBC. Phil & Andy call me for details. #Betrayal’
MSNBC did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
The heat is on: Joe Scarborough (above last week) referred to Sean Hannity’s Fox News program as ‘state run TV’ on Monday morning
Straight fire: That prompted Hannity (above in April) to fire back at Scarborough, claiming he ‘BEGGED’ Roger Ailes for his own show at Fox News ‘dozens of times’
Tattletale: Scarbough was employed at MSNBC at the time hje was asking Ailes for a job claimed Hannity, who urged MSNBC president Phil Griffin to call him
The Phil and Andy that Hannity mentions in his tweet are Phil Griffin and Andy Lack.
Griffin is the president of MSNBC while Lack heads up the NBC News division.
It was Griffin who gave Scarborough his job on the network back in 2008, and oversaw the launch of the now very successful morning news program.
The claim that Scarborough had been looking to leave MSNBC was the final and most damning comment Hannity made in his four-tweet rant on Monday.
‘Liberal Joe @JoeNBC is boring low rated establishment TV. Joe calls The @Potus a Schmuck, goon, & thug just to please D.C. NYC elites & Mika, wrote Hannity at the start of his tirade.
‘Liberal Joe is desperate for attention now. Lashing out @POTUS me, singing bad songs on Colbert. I crushed him on radio and TV #epicfailure.’
He then closed out by writing: ‘Sad truth about Liberal Joe is this; He had to become an MSNBC liberal to keep his job. @Greta refused to change. Joe sold his soul Sheep TV.’
Hannity previously went after Scarborough on his Fox News show last week.
‘Did anyone else notice the hair? Wow. I guess Mika’s telling him it looks really cool,’ said Hannity after Scarborough and his co-host Mika Brzezinski appeared on ‘The Late Show.’
He then joked that Scarborough thinks he is ‘Johnny Rotten,’ the frontman for the legendary British punk band The Sex Pistols.
Hannity also mocked Scarborough’s announcement that he was leaving the Republican party, saying: ‘Oh Joe, Liberal Joe, say it ain’t so,. What is the Republican party ever going to do without Joe?’
Scarborough’s dig at Hannity on Monday came during a segment about the constantly changing story from the administration on the meeting Don trump Jr. had with a shadowy Russian lawyer at Trump Tower in June of 2016.
Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort were also in attendance at the meeting.
Hannity came up on ‘Morning Joe’ as his Fox News program was the only one that Don Trump Jr. appeared on in the wake of the scandal, refusing all other interviews.
‘Going on a TV show that basically a state-run television and being asked at the end of that TV show, “Is there anything else that we don’t know about?” And Don Jr. saying, “That’s it,” And then the next day we find out another person attended the meeting,’ said Scarborough.
He then added: ‘These people keep getting caught in their lies.’
More bombshells: Hannity also claimed that Hannity only left the GOP to save his job at MSNBC, and suggested that Greta Van Susteren (above) was fired for not doing the same
Radio silence: MSNBC did not respond to multiple requests for comment
On Sunday, Scarborough took aim at members of the Republican party for supporting President Trump in a scathing op ed published in The Washington Post.
He slammed members of Congress who have ‘shamelessly’ stood by President Donald Trump, a ‘longtime Democrat who switched parties after the promotion of a racist theory about Barack Obama’.
Prior to running for President, Trump himself had for months fueled conspiracy theories over whether Barack Obama was born in the United States, and thus eligible to be president.
‘It is a dying party that I can no longer defend,’ Scarborough wrote in the op-ed for The Washington Post.
Scarborough, who was elected to four terms in Congress from Florida starting in 1994, announced his decision to leave the GOP last week during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
He appeared as a guest with his co-host and fiancee, Mika Brzezinski, who recently was attacked in sharply personal terms by the Republican president.
‘I am a Republican, but I’m not going to be a Republican anymore,’ he said, adding that he planned to register as an independent voter.
The headline for his piece was ‘Trump is killing the Republican party.’
