While the Republican party desperately tries to downplay any links to Russia amid the cross-party probe, it appears that one party member is more than happy to play up her supposed Kremlin ties.
Sarah Palin posted a mosaic of pictures on Father’s Day comparing her dad, Charles ‘Chuck’ Heath, with President Vladimir Putin.
‘Doppelgänger post in honor of Dad’s extraordinary sense of humor!’ she wrote in the caption on Sunday. ‘Who’s Who?’

There is something of a passing resemblance between the two men and many commented that post was likely to spark a flurry of conspiracy theories.
Some praised Palin for her ‘sense of humor’ while others admonished her for comparing her father to such a controversial figure.
It is not the first time that the former vice presidential nominee has played up her close proximity with Russia.

In 2008, when asked about her insight into Russia as governor of the closest state to the country, she famously replied: ‘They’re our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.’
The comment was quickly seized upon by Saturday Night Live, with Tiny Fey – who regularly played Palin at the time – saying: ‘I can see Russia from my house.’
The quote has since been commonly misattributed to Palin herself.
After the latest scandal, which sparked a probe into the Trump administrations ties with Russia and allegations Moscow tried to influence the election, the former Alaska Governor recalled her infamous comment in a tweet, saying: ‘Russia’s getting out of hand? So says the defeated.
‘Not to worry… remember I can keep an eye on them from here.’
