Liverpool transfer news and rumours: ‘Juventus join Reds and Chelsea in battle for Ruben Neves’

Liverpool and Chelsea have now been joined by Juventus in the chase for Porto ace Ruben Neves.

Neves has a €40m buyout clause in his contract at the Portuguese club – although could be available for less after a disappointing campaign last season, according to A Bola.

The Reds and the Blues have been slugging it out for the youngster, but Juve are new to the scene as they plot a way to hold onto the Serie A crown – with Inter and AC Milan already splashing the cash this summer.

The 20-year-old has already skippered his club and is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Europe.

Any deal is likely to happen after teh under-21 European Championships as Neves is representing Portugal at the tournament.

Liverpool believe they have landed £35million Mohamed Salah from Roma.

The Egypt winger is one of Jurgen Klopp’s top priorities and has been at the centre of discussions between the two clubs for some time.

Salah scored 19 goals for Roma last season but is understood to be keen to move to Anfield. He would have completed in January 2014 but for a late swoop from Chelsea.

After struggling to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge, however, he moved to Fiorentina on loan before joining Roma.

An initial loan spell was made permanent but it is believed he feels he has “unfinished business” in the Premier League and wants to return. Read more here.

Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool need to boost the quality of the squad rather than improve the starting XI.

The Reds qualified for next season’s Champions League as they edged Arsenal to a top four spot on the last weekend of the season.

Club legend Carragher thinks boss Jurgen Klopp has a top basic team but need more depth to challenge in Europe and the Premier League.
