Inverness Caledonian Thistle suffered a 20-5 defeat – and boss John Robertson was not happy.
“To concede 20 goals to any team just isn’t on” he fumed before branding the awful defeat as “unacceptable”.
Robertson, who took over the reins at Caley this summer, spewed his rant with his tongue in his cheek – because the thrashing was at the hands of 100 kids.
The former Newcastle striker said: “We pride ourselves on our team shape and discipline and today it just didn’t happen.
“I told the players that when we are defending we need to show the players into wide areas and we just allowed all 37 of their forwards to rush down the middle. It is unaccaptable.
“We are going to have to get back on the training ground prepare properly and make sure it doesn’t happen again.
“To concede 20 goals to any team just isn’t on.
“Our attitude was wrong, we didn’t stick to our shape, the discipline was poor, we didn’t move the ball and allowed them to attack straight down the middle.
“Credit where credit’s due though, I though the 37 forwards the kids had were magnificent today.
The movement the passing the way they shielded each other from the ball with 17 guys running in front of the ball, our guys just couldn’t get near them.
A lot of talent there with a lot of good one touch football. We have already earmarked the older ones as future Caley stars.
“We had them watch. We were sure they were going to play a 50-25-25 formation but they played the opposite, they played 30-30-40 and it caught us out.
“We heard they were going to be defensive and try and catch us on the break, but they didn’t they came right at us.
“The big problem I have now is to pick 11 players for the next game as a lot of players didn’t do themselves justice today.”
Caley are not the only professional Scottish side to suffer a humiliating defeat to kids – after Dundee FC lost 5-2 to 100 youngsters.
