Real Madrid are interested in Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe, president Florentino Perez has confirmed.
The French teenager continues to be linked with a summer move after a stunning season with the Ligue 1 champions.
Real are in pole position to land him with Arsenal and Liverpool both also interested.
And Perez, speaking after his re-election as Los Blancos president, confirmed the Spanish giants are monitoring Mbappe.
“Zidane saw him when he was 16 years old and liked him a lot,” Perez said.
“I’ve seen very little of Mbappe but he has some very good ways and surely he’ll become one of the greatest.
“We are following him of course but for the moment he’s a Monaco player.
“I don’t know why people say he was born to play for Madrid. … I’ll tell you if he was born to play for Madrid or not!”
Real have also been linked with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, after the 18-year-old rejected a new deal at AC Milan.
And Perez confirmed there was long-term interest, although Real are happy with current No.1 Keylor Navas.
“Everyone says he’s a great player, he’s going to be the substitute for Buffon,” Perez said.
“And he seems to have very good manners. Surely we are watching him. But we will not talk about what we are doing.”
