Corbyn to introduce rap duo Run the Jewels at Glastonbury

Jeremy Corbyn will introduce American rap duo Run the Jewels at Glastonbury next week.

The Labour leader will speak to the crowd at the main Pyramid stage, where he will appear alongside Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis on 24 June.

Mr Corbyn was due to appear at the festival last year but pulled out following EU referendum.

Run the Jewels consists of rappers Killer Mike and El-P, who are known for their activism and politically charged lyrics.

Killer Mike, whose real name is Michael Render, is a friend and supporter of one-time Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders, who also endorsed Mr Corbyn’s campaign.

In the lead-up to the General Election, Mr Corbyn received endorsements from various celebrities including Danny DeVito through to UK grime artists, including double MOBO award-winning Stormzy.

He also won the backing of music magazines Kerrang! and NME.

Mr Corbyn’s shadow chancellor and long-term ally, John McDonnell, is also scheduled to appear at the Somerset festival, as well as Labour MP Clive Lewis and former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis.
