Chelsea join race to sign Juventus wantaway Dani Alves? Transfer news from Tuesday’s papers

Dani Alves has told Juventus he wants to leave this summer – with Chelsea joining Manchester City in the race for the defender.

The Blues have emerged as another possible location for the Brazil international – with Antonio Conte keen to sign a new full back.

City are still the favourites to claim Alves, though, as he is keen to reunite with former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola, according to the Guardian.

Alves’ representative held talks with Juve bosses on Monday to tell them the star wants a switch – and is waiting for the thumbs up to start talks with other clubs.

Sky Italia have claimed Alves’s contract, which still have two more years on it, could be cancelled.

Guardiola has already splashed £78m on Bernardo Silva and Ederson this summer.

But is in the market for a new set of full backs after releasing Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Pablo Zabeleta.

Chelsea are set to enter the race to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal. Liverpool and Manchester City are already in the hunt with just a year left on the England midfielder’s contract.

…and one of those options is Championship giants Aston Villa. Boss Steve Bruce wants the Chelsea stopper, 36, and Villa have put together a package to tempt the defender, who has been holding out for £100,000-a-week. Neighbours and bitter Championship rivals Birmingham are also very keen.

John Terry is weighing up his future

Barcelona could use Rafinha as a makeweight in their pursuit of Arsenal’s right-back Hector Bellerin, according to a Spanish media report. The versatile 24-year-old is willing to leave the Nou Camp for the Emirates and can play right wing-back — Bellerin’s position.

Rafa Benitez is set for a transfer breakthrough by landing defender Florian Lejeune. Newcastle will pay £10m up front for the Eibar stopper who can also play defensive midfield.

Swansea are interested in signing Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham. The England Under-21 striker has been linked with Newcastle and Brighton after a fine season with Bristol City. But Swans chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed they are also keen.

Willy Caballero has edged closer to sealing his move to Chelsea after passing a medical. The veteran keeper is a free agent after his Manchester City contract expired.

Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu is heading back to Barcelona. Deulofeu, 23, joined Everton from Barca on a permanent deal in 2015 but failed to win over current boss Ronald Koeman. He spent last season on loan at Milan but will now rejoin Barca after they exercised a buy-back clause (via Liverpool Echo).

The Spurs forward is facing a further four months out. meaning that by the time he is expected back he’ll have been out for a year. The Argentina international’s last appearance came at the end of October, in an EFL Cup defeat at Liverpool. Since then he has had operations of both hips, one in April and one in May.
