Charlton murder victim named – Metropolitan Police

A murder investigation continues following the death of a man in Charlton.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 17:44hrs on Tuesday, 13 June, to a man stabbed behind Phipps House, which is located off Woolwich Road in Charlton.

Officers and London’s Air Ambulance attended and found a 30-year-old man injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 18:27hrs.

The victim has been formally identified as Adam Chambers, 30, (22.02.87) of Charlton. His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination held on 14 June at Greenwich Mortuary gave cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) are investigating.

The officer leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Lee Watling, said: “I want to trace two men who were seen near to the location before they made off on foot towards Troughton Road.

“They are both described as black men, aged around 20 years. One man was taller than the other, and both were wearing dark clothing.

“I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist the investigation, to call police.”

There has been no arrest at this early stage.
